At your first appointment, you’ll meet with Dr. Reeder or Dr. Whiddon for a full evaluation. You’ll
discuss your concerns, your surgeon will study your medical history and perform a physical exam.
Next, you’ll come in and meet with our venous sonographer for a painless Doppler ultrasound vein
analysis, to map the exact areas that are causing you concern. Dr. Reeder or Dr. Whiddon will evaluate your test
results and meet with you again to discuss your condition and to explain your treatment options. At that appointment,
you and your surgeon will decide the best course of treatment and you’ll be given information on how to prepare.
Your surgeon will talk with you about any medications you’re on and which ones may need to be
avoided immediately before and after your treatment. You’ll also find out what to wear on the day of your procedure
and what to expect in terms of postprocedure pain – which is usually minimal, due to the minimally invasive treatments
the surgeons use.
We encourage you to talk with us about any concerns you may have so that we can make sure you are
fully informed and confident in the care you receive at Southwest Vein Institute.
